The Central Florida Lyric Opera Resident Artist Program offers emerging opera singers an opportunity to develop their talents and launch their careers. The program is tailored for talented, career-focused singers seeking advanced training and experience in vocal arts.

Mainstage productions are performed in their original languages, fully staged and costumed, with piano or small-orchestra accompaniment. Operas are often double- or triple-cast so singers can study, learn, and perform full roles.

Maestro Bill Doherty
Maestro Bill Doherty has performed as a concert pianist since the age of four. His studies included piano, conducting, composition, and voice with teachers connected to Tanglewood, the Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard, Tri-Cities Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Vienna State Opera.
As a composer, conductor, pianist, singer, and teacher, he has worked in performance halls and cathedrals including the Vatican, Lincoln Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and venues throughout Italy and Asia. He founded and serves as General Director of Central Florida Lyric Opera and is Director of Music at St. Timothy's Catholic Church.

Molly Fillmore
Molly Fillmore made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Helmwige in the Grammy-winning production of Der Ring der Nibelungen and returned in Philip Glass's Satyagraha. Her work has appeared in the Metropolitan Opera's Live in HD series, on PBS, and on Deutsche Grammophon releases.
Her roles span dramatic soprano and mezzo-soprano repertoire, including Salome, Tosca, Turandot, Marietta in Die tote Stadt, Brünnhilde and Ortlinde in Die Walküre, and Micaela in Carmen. Concert appearances include the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Detroit Symphony, and the Choral Arts Society of Washington. She has taught voice at the university level since 2004 and serves at the University of North Texas College of Music.

Maestro Andrea Elena
Andrea Elena has sung more than 90 leading tenor roles in major opera houses including La Scala, La Fenice, Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, and the Arena di Verona, as well as throughout Europe, the United States, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and South America.
His performances have been broadcast internationally, including a Verdi Requiem from Royal Albert Hall, and he has recorded for Columbia, Nuova Era, Orpheus, Kikko, Lyra, and Bongiovanni Classics. He now devotes significant attention to young performers through private teaching, stage direction, coaching, and international master classes.
Broadway star, acting teacher & stage director
Grant Norman
Grant Norman is best known for portraying the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, on national tour, and at Her Majesty's Theatre in London. He also appeared in Miss Saigon and toured as the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
A graduate of CFLO's Resident Artist Training Program, Grant began his long collaboration with Maestro Bill Doherty in 1990. His extensive regional work includes leading roles in Oklahoma, Into the Woods, Lend Me a Tenor, West Side Story, and other productions. He returns to CFLO as acting teacher and stage director.
